Navigating the Energy Transition: The future of gas in Mediterranean
On 16 June 2025, the OMEC, as Secretariat of the UfM working group on Gas, Emissions Abatement and Hydrogen (formerly UfM Gas Platform) and in cooperation with the European Commission, will organize the annual conference of the working group in Cairo, Egypt. The event will bring together policymakers, industry experts, and institutions to explore the future of gaseous fuels —including natural gas, biogas, biomethane, and hydrogen— in the Mediterranean and their crucial role in the region’s energy transition. The conference will provide a platform for all participants to exchange insights on the challenges, benefits, opportunities, and enabling conditions for building a just, secure, affordable, and sustainable energy future.
